Saturday, May 23rd there was a serious accident at the entrance to Danbury Fair Mall. A car had struck a cement pole stanchion at the entrance.
Hawleyville Firefighter Reese Moffett came upon the scene and was the first one there. He donned his turnouts and PPE and upon approaching the car, found an unconscious elderly male in the car. He was forced to break a window to gain access to the patient. The patient was unconscious, and having respiratory difficulty. Upon Danbury Police arrival, Reese gave an update, and then he and another went to work to support the patient. Reese was able to gain access to the backseat, and hold the patient’s airway open until Engine 26 and EMS arrived.
Reese’s actions were crucial in keeping this man breathing until the paramedics arrived.
